About

Like many, I was absolutely hooked with woodturning after making my first bowl at school in 2009. That summer I got myself a lathe and the rest is history. With a background in cabinetmaking, a trip to Turnfest in 2016 motivated me to transform my hobby into a career. Since then, I have been lucky enough to display my works in a number of galleries in Australia, demonstrate and teach around Australia and overseas as well as work with over 200 species of wood.

My work encompasses a large variety of styles which keeps my day to day work pretty interesting. I really enjoy faceplate work as that is how I feel I get to best express my creativity, whether that is carved bowls, German ring turning, hollow forms or even a salad bowl with good balanced proportions. For commission work, I tend to say away from larger spindle orders, rather doing the more unique jobs that most people would shy away from. The challenge to push myself to learn and grow as a wood turner and craftsman really motivates me. As well the making side of my work, I have also had the chance to teach and demonstrate my work which is a highlight.

Outside of the workshop, I will often be hiking in search of wildlife to photograph, playing squash or watching ice hockey. The balance and inspiration I draw from these things helps drive my passion in the workshop.
